"We believe that life's milestones should always be celebrated no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in," this is how the chief creative officer of Stylevents Co., Dawn Uy, took on the challenge of keeping their company afloat amid the COVID-19 crisis.

Along with her team, Ms. Uy successfully managed to brave through the first five months of the pandemic, embrace the changes brought on by the new normal, and proceed with their plans for their clients. "Despite all the challenges alongside the strict health guidelines and protocols, we were able to move past the first salvo of the pandemic and persist in meeting our goals as COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease off," she shared.

To survive this pandemic, Ms. Uy also believes that businesses need to be comfortable pivoting their strategies and be steadfast in holding on to their purpose. With the rise of intimate weddings, Stylevents Co. has learned to shift its course to helping its clients cope with all the pandemic stress and bring their dream weddings into life.

"Our focus has shifted since more and more couples are taking the less traditional wedding approach,” said Ms. Uy. “Considering the limitations, I'm so grateful for my team for being so resilient and flexible in working on our projects and meeting our clients' expectations."

What are the pros and cons of pushing an intimate wedding amid the pandemic?
Despite the obvious downsides, there are several perks of furthering your (intimate) wedding amid the pandemic. It allows you to come up with a smaller guest list, which often comes with a smaller budget—and more flexibility in how you spend; share your special day with your closest family and friends, and foster a much safer environment for your suppliers and guests.

Could you share with us some intimate wedding concepts/ideas that are feasible in our current situation?
You can splurge on the entertainment aspect: treat your guests to a most gratifying atmosphere, and then surprise them with unique favors on their seats.

What are some wedding styles would you recommend for an intimate wedding?
If you own a vast, beautiful garden (or know someone who has one), you can host an intimate backyard wedding. On the other hand, if you opt indoors, you can dress up the ceiling of your venue with drapes or floral installations and fill up your space with the warm glow of candlelight.

You can also push through with a socially distanced ceremony in the round so everyone can get a 360-degree view of the event.

Meanwhile, in setting up your wedding reception, we suggest creating a focal point at the center of the room, such as the couple's table, a dance floor, or an aesthetic statement piece.

Any piece of advice for couples who are planning to get married this year?
Always remember that love comes first. What matters the most is your union, not the grandeur of the event. Have the right suppliers that will help you carry out your events safely, and of course, make your event memorable.
